Today the weather was 30 *C with humidity. After work I decided to go for a bike ride. This is my first bike ride after Ironman.
This week, I make sure I do some sort of exercise everyday. For mon till wed, I was running 20 min or so after work. It felt great. Last few weeks, I was drained after work. No exercise made a tired Cliffy.
Since I ain’t official training yet, I decided to just let my legs rip. I still felt my body is fatigue from Ironman. It didn’t matter.
No watch, no heart rate monitor. Just ride for the joy of riding. It was a lot of fun.
On the climbs, I am more conservative when I train. Keep my HR low and cadence high. Since I ain’t ‘training’ anymore, I just let it go. Get out of the saddle and climb. I must have pushed myself pretty hard considering that two times I felt my lunch coming back up :).
I wasn’t necessarily going fast. It just feels good to be on the road.
The Toronto Marathon is Oct 14th. My game plan is to spent the Sept to train. Then taper in Oct 1st.
I don’t think I have time to do a lot of speed work. Also the fact that I ain’t sure if my body is fully recover from Ironman. My focus will be the long runs. My goal is to run non stop. No walking.
I input my HIM run time (1:49) in the McMillan Running calculator. It says that I can run a 3:49 marathon. My marathon run time for Ironman is 4:44. So how fast/slow will I go? We shall find out 🙂
