Non tri-related: Faith talk. My shifter cable broke while I was cleaning my bike last night. Brought it to the shop and decided to get an overhaul and tune up for the big day. I won’t pick it up until next Wed. I borrowed my friend’s mountain bike tomorrow :). At least I can do some riding. This week, I haven’t train a lot. By this I mean I rarely trained. This post is not about...
The last deposit. Just a review of last week’s training. After Muskoka Long Course, I jump back into the game. No break…. Last week was training focus. Let the numbers roll… June 18th – 24th Mon – Swim 55′, Bike 115′ Tues – Run 90′, Swim 35′, Bike 60′ (trainer) Wed – Swim 60′, Bike 115′ Thurs – Rest (boy...
Mean weekend. That’s how I sum up my weekend. Mean. It wasn’t hard. It wasn’t painful. It was just mean. This is the last weekend I train before I go into taper mode. Last chance I make my deposit to my Ironman bank account before I withdraw it on July 22nd. What was the deposit? Yesterday, I trained with Race4kids. The coach set up a 90 km loop course and let us ride for 6 hrs...
I’ve been there…Have you ever out going for a run in -30*C (-22*F)? In the snowstorm? In miles of empty street with nothing but streetlights to keep you company?I’ve been there. Or pound the pavement in 30*C (86*F) with humidity? You can barely breathe but you smile knowing it will be a good run.I’ve been there. Or ride in weather so frigid that your feet are numb? Or ride...
Muskoka Long Course Triathlon Going to keep this short. i) I drove up to Muskoka this morning. Got a speeding ticket. The cop was nice. He knew I was racing and let me go lightly 🙂 ii) First time I did open water swim….need to get back to swimming open water. 80% I swim breastroke and 20 % freestyle. Swim in 43 min (2:13/100 m). iii) I went to Muskoka to train. It just so happen they had a...
Friday Friday..non-sense Friday I am still recovering from my knee. I didn’t even touch my bike this whole week. It is crazy. I can’t wait till the weekend though. Sat and Sun is sunny and hot! I got something fun and ‘creative’ ways to train tomorrow :0) I figure I post some non-sense stuff….it is Friday afterall. – I had a conversation with a friend and I was...
Balance shmalance. Everyone these days talk about balance. Balance between your work and family life. Balance between your training and work. Even I find myself talking the need to balance my life. Last season, my life was all over the place. I tried to do too much. I was on the verge of burn out. This season, I changed my approach. How do I balance between quitting my job in Feb, went to Hong...
Your friend knows you when they give you this on facebook..Dang right. That’s what I do..I kick ass…anywhere anytime:) I am saving this for July 22nd.
Knee is getting much better. Thanks for the concern.
Being… I am injured. Not severely. While riding on Sat, my left knee was acting up. Yesterday it was sore. It is more of a dull pain in the joint. I suspect it has to do with riding too low cadence on hills. Joe Friel did mention don’t go below 60 rpm or you risk damaging your knees. Been dipping in the hot tub and doing a lot of massages. Today it is a bit better. I figure I take...
My path into endurance sports… A few things I notice ever since I ramp up my training: i) I eat a lot. I am never full. I have to make sure I eat enough after the night workout so in the morning I have energy to train.ii) 8-9 hours of sleep does wonder for the body. Wed morning I bailed my morning swim so I can get more snooze. Tues night I was feeling really tired (and cranky). After the...
