What did you do?

In my church, we had a new English pastor for 6 months now. Before him, we were without a pastor for about a year and a half. A friend once asked us how we got a new English pastor. I replied that we prayed really hard. We prayed every Wed (our weekly prayer meeting) and every Sun before service. By the time God answered, I think we were so tired we almost forgot to rejoice. My friend looked at...

Future and distant future

If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this. – C S Lewis What Jesus (Matthew 6:25-34) say: 25″For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you...

How do one know…

How do I know what I enjoy is what God wants rather than what I, selfish, fleshly desires?

What if what I am ‘enjoying’ doing is from my fleshly desire? How does one discern that than what glorify God?

I read this from It is a post from a passage from a book, Calvin. It focused in the 1500s when Protestants were systematically persecuted by the Catholic Church: I saw two burnt there. Their death inspired in me differing sentiments. If you had been there, you would have hoped for a less severe punishment for these poor unfortunates. … The first was a very young man, not yet with a...

What I miss from Australia

It has been about 2-3 weeks back here in Mississauga and things are back to normal. What I miss from Australia is that every thing I did, even the small thing, like finding my way in Brisbane transit, I feel great accomplishment and grateful. Maybe because it was new experience. I should see things differently when I come back. Even driving to church, for example, I should be grateful. The most...

Using terms loosely

Had a rather interesting conversation with a brother last night…

One topic that came up was that terms were often use without a full understanding of them…

for example..

mission, missional, counter cultural (with respect of being a Christian). Even the word Glory and praise….

I will add some jargon in there….how about eschatology πŸ™‚

I hope Lance Armstrong trains hard next year. Forget about Contador. Richard is going to own the mountains.

Holy Spirit and Fellowship

After being back to Canada for about a week, a part of me still misses Australia. Perhap not so of the geographic area (I still love those beaches). More so of the quiet time and the freedom I have. I am leaning more that perhaps this is a sign that I am carrying too much things in life right now. Need to maintain the travel light mentality. Anyways, one of the most joyful moment is reading the...

Transplant Games Pictures I am back home for a week and slowly getting adjusted back to the chilly Canadian weather. Here’s a few pictures from the Transplant Games. This is Captain Canada and taken before my 5 km run race. He was standing about a km from the finish line and yelled at me, ‘Cliff, hurry up. He is right behind you.’ I was at the point of slowing down and because...
