End of a season.

Two weeks after the marathon. How am I feeling? Pretty good. I went for two easy runs. The first run was a week ago and I was feeling that deep fatigue which I felt from Ironman. I guess my body is taking some time to recover from the marathon.

I stayed home a lot. Lodging around. Doing some minor house fixes here and there.

Over the weekend, I met up with Aaron and went to go for a chilly bike ride. I love being back on the road. With the marathon build up, I did not had time to touch my bike.

Just going out. Riding away. The weather was cold. Dressed in layers.

I love it. I love the freedom of the road. No car and no traffic. Just ride around in the autumn leaves.

After three years into endurance sport, I am stronger than before. At the same time, I feel like I am starting this sport all over again.

It took me and my body this long to say I am comfortable with running marathons. It goes to show that it takes a lot of time for the body to adapt.

There is so much for me to learn and practice. Take swimming for example. I need to learn how to swim open water and sight well. How to swim straight. How to get my wetsuit off with ease.

The next season is going back to the fundamentals.

Learn to swim properly, bike strong and run tough.
Lots of aerobic base building and some crazy mileage.

I am very excited about this. I can’t wait to work on some transition practice next season. I have a few friends who want to get into tri and it will be a hoot to train w/ them.

I am not ramping up the training yet. Though now until end of the year, I would like to do some form of swim/bike/run. The idea is to do something once a day. No zeros.

I am going to ride outdoor until snow comes. Heck, I might even ride in the snow ;). We will see.

As for race schedule next year….something is in the works. Nothing too different than this year. Just lots of fun and lots of pain….(good pain).

I saw this video from TriBoomer’s blog. The guy who had cancer 6 times. Wow. Now that’s inspiring!
