More money does not solve money problems

Share post ->

I shared this with a friend the other day. The solution to money problems is not having more money.

“You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” - Haggai 1:6 NKJV

We believe that if we earn more money, our financial problems will be resolved. But I don’t think so. Look at these verses. God is saying you make, but you won’t have enough. I believe these verses apply to us.

In Haggai, God is angry at the Israelites bc they focused on their home and wealth and neglected to rebuild the temple. The temple is God’s glory, and they ain’t focusing on that. God is saying, ‘Focus on Me (rebuild the temple), and your needs will be met.’

These verses in Haggai, where God says you make but you will not have enough or will not eat, are also repeated in other prophetic books, especially when the Israelites were worshipping idols and not God.

Confession of a Stay-At-Home Dad

A Biblical Vision for Christian Fatherhood I never planned to become a stay-at-home dad. If you had asked me years ago what faithful Christian living looked like, I would have said ministry, missions, or serving in church. Not changing diapers.Not managing tantrums.Not slowly climbing stairs with two little kids. But

When Your Wife’s Calling Is Bigger Than Yours: A Christian Husband Reflects

What happens when a husband feels like his wife’s calling or career is bigger than his own? Many Christian couples quietly wrestle with this question, especially as they seek to understand the biblical roles of husband and wife. Recently, a friend asked me a question about marriage, work, and calling.
