BIBLICAL PARENTHOOD AS A ROLE MODEL TO DISCIPLE THE NEXT GENERATION
This is the thesis I’ve written for my Master of Divinity. I am still working on uploading this to my website 🙂
Thesis Summary
Known as the “missing gap,” many children who attended the children’s program at church consistently do not attend church when they reach their 20s and 30s. This phenomenon is happening across all denominations and churches. If the children and youth programs are working, shouldn’t children continue to be active in their faith when they reach adulthood? My aim in this thesis is to suggest that to disciple the young generation, we should focus our resources on having parents disciple their children. The church should not be the primary place for children’s spiritual growth. It is at home. Discipleship through the Bible is a concept since God gave the Laws to the Israelites in the wilderness. Discipleship is done through relationship, just as Jesus disciples His disciples, and not through programs or events.
